Many thanks for the emails and notes I received highlighting the terrible, no-good mistake I made in yesterday’s post. If you read on the website or app, both have been updated and the mistake has been corrected. If you are subscribed, you will forever have evidence of my humanity and mistakes in your email. I am human. I mess up. I appreciate everyone who wrote to point out that I shared unhealthy advice (in a sloppily written sentence) in yesterday’s post.
Here are three things you need to know —
#1: Drink pasteurized milk.
Pasteurization is a process in which packaged and non-packaged foods (such as milk and fruit juice) are treated with mild heat (<100 °C) to eliminate pathogens, such as viruses & bacteria, and extend shelf-life. Learn more about the process by watching this short video. When you go to buy milk, you should look to see that the label says PASTEURIZED.
Drinking unpasteurized (also known as raw) milk can make you very sick. And with H5N1 in dairy cows, there are increased risks and a lot of uncertainties associated with drinking unpasteurized milk.
Therefore, we drink PASTEURIZED milk. ONLY.
#2: I messed up yesterday.
My writing was sloppy and my editing was subpar. I messed up.
I do not want to hide from my mistakes or pretend they didn’t happen. I am not going to make excuses.
I take full responsibility.
Yes, I am embarrassed. Yes, I wish I could go back in time and re-edit that post. Yes, I know I caused confusion. Yes, I am so mad at myself. Yes, this really sucks.
But I messed up. I shared bad information.
I am sorry.
Yesterday I wrote a sloppy sentence. In that sentence, I misspoke and passed along the wrong information about pasteurized milk. Again, I am sorry. And I am making amends and correcting myself here.
#3: This post serves as both an update/correction and an apology.
I am sorry for my carelessness yesterday.
I messed up.
I hope you can forgive me.
More importantly, I hope you hear me when I say that drinking pasteurized milk is the healthy choice. Raw milk is dangerous.
Again, many thanks to those of you who were quick to point out my mistake.
I am very grateful. And I hope to respond to each of you individually soon.
xoxo,
Becky
