Great article, Becky. I always told my students:”The only stupid question is the one you never ask. “

Guess I am confused. I thought the HPV was only for children. Are you saying it is one for

all adults also?

Dianne, the HPV vaccine is available to everyone through age 45. So while it is on the childhood vaccine schedule, adults can get it through their 45th birthday. And then we're just too old for it...!!! I'm trying to reframe it as a vaccine for all (of us that are 45 and under) and not just a vaccine for kids. It clears a virus that causes cancer!! Unfortunately, you cannot get one. Most OB/gyns do test for HPV and will tell you if you are positive. Individuals who are vaccinated and have a cervix will likely have fewer Pap smears during their lifetime because the risk of cervical cancer decreases so significantly with the vaccine. Crazy amazing.

Long answer to -- you do not need and cannot get the HPV vaccine.

Thank you, Becky. Seniority does have its privileges! 😉

There still needs to be a ban on assault weapons.
