I cannot find an answer to this and was wondering what you thought. Today is my day 5 of COVID. I have been isolating from my family and masking, but last night my husband developed symptoms (his home test was negative, but it is pretty obvious). We have 2 kids who were boosted this summer and are showing no symptoms. I have switched to primary caregiver since I should be less contagious at this point. Does my husband need to isolate from me since I am recovering? Is there a risk of being with him now reinfecting me?

The likelihood of you getting sick again from your husband is VERY small. If it were me, I would not worry about isolating. The key is to keep your kids healthy. They should isolate from him (his viral load is probably much higher than yours) and you should wear a mask around them and when possible they should wear masks, too. If your kids are back to school, they should wear a mask indoors to protect others, as the likelihood of them becoming sick is pretty high. Good luck as your work your way through this. And please know (speaking from experience here), it may take 10-14 days before you test negative again. You have at least 5 days ahead of you where you need to be masking around the kids and trying to limit their exposure to you. Hope you all get well soon!

Thanks for responding. We have all been masking since I got sick and will continue to mask. The kids did go to school with their masks today after I checked with their school nurse earlier. I am almost feeling normal and didn't want do go backwards, but couldn't find any info on being at different stages in COVID illness/recovery.
